The Continued Enforced Disappearance of Human Rights Activist Issa al-Nukheifi

Coinciding with the end of the prison sentence of human rights activist Issa al-Nukheifi in October 2022, the Saudi authorities proceeded to forcibly disappear him. This came after he announced a hunger strike on October 15, 2022, in protest of not being released despite the end of his sentence, and he remains forcibly disappeared to this day.

It is noteworthy that the Saudi authorities had arrested al-Nukheifi in December 2016, due to his documentation of the forced eviction violations of 12,000 citizens in the Jazan border area with Yemen, and sentenced him to 6 years in prison and a subsequent 6-year travel ban, which ended on October 14, 2022.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights calls for the disclosure of the fate of human rights activist Issa al-Nukheifi and his immediate release without conditions or restrictions.
