Continued Detention of Dr. Abdulaziz Al Abdulatif

Saudi authorities have been detaining Dr. Abdulaziz Al Abdulatif since September 11, 2017, where he is serving a 20-year prison sentence.

Dr. Abdulaziz is among those whose sentences have been harshly extended by the Saudi judiciary after their completion. Initially, he was sentenced to five years in prison, and a release order was issued after the end of his sentence. However, the Supreme Court overturned the release order and retried him, resulting in a new 20-year prison sentence.

It is noted that Dr. Abdulaziz Al Abdulatif is a professor of Islamic culture at Imam University, a member of the committee for the development of curricula for teaching doctrine and Islamic culture at universities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a member of the editorial board of Al-Bayan magazine.
