Six Years After His Arrest… Fate of Dr. Mohammed bin Mohsen Basurah Remains Unknown

The sixth anniversary marks the arrest of Dr. Mohammed bin Mohsen Basurah, a media professor at Umm Al-Qura University, detained in March 2020 over tweets expressing his views.

He was initially sentenced to 30 years, later reduced to four years in February 2024. Despite effectively completing his sentence and signing a written pledge, it remains unclear whether he has been released or is still detained.

SANAD Human Rights Organization calls on Saudi authorities to disclose his fate, release him if still detained, and provide appropriate compensation.
