On the fourth anniversary of his arrest, SANAD Human Rights Organization calls for the release of Dr. Mohammed Matar Al-Harbi

This month marks the fourth anniversary of the arrest of Dr. Mohammed Matar Al-Harbi, a professor at Umm Al-Qura University in Mecca, imam of Princess Sheikha Mosque, and a member of the National Society for Human Rights as well as the Advisory Committee in Mecca. He was forcibly arrested by Saudi authorities in October 2021 in a violent raid without any legal justification.

According to information received by SANAD Human Rights Organization, security forces stormed Dr. Al-Harbi’s home, assaulted him, and beat him before handcuffing and taking him to an undisclosed location. Since then, SANAD has received no information regarding his condition, detention circumstances, or trial.

SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its call for the immediate and unconditional release of Dr. Mohammed Matar Al-Harbi, urging Saudi authorities to ensure his physical and psychological safety and to hold accountable those responsible for the violations committed against him.
