The Eighth Anniversary of Dr. Khalid Al-Ajmi’s Arrest Amid Deteriorating Health

This month marks the eighth anniversary of Dr. Khalid Al-Ajmi’s arrest in September 2017. Saudi authorities continue to detain him despite his deteriorating health and recent diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease.

While authorities temporarily released Dr. Al-Ajmi in August 2021 due to his worsening condition, he was arbitrarily re-arrested in November of the same year and later sentenced to 23 years in prison, with no consideration for his fragile health.

SANAD Human Rights Organization expresses grave concern over the continued detention of Dr. Khalid Al-Ajmi despite his critical health condition, urging Saudi authorities to release him immediately and ensure he receives proper medical care and treatment to prevent further deterioration.
