On the 4th Anniversary of His Arrest: SANAD Renews Its Demand to Disclose the Whereabouts of Activist Abdullah Al-Mubarki

These days mark the fourth anniversary of the arrest of social media activist Abdullah Al-Mubarki, who was detained in July 2021 following a raid on his home in the city of Yanbu. He was taken without any clear charges or known legal procedures.

Since the moment of his arrest, Al-Mubarki has been forcibly disappeared, with no reliable information regarding his whereabouts or legal status—constituting an act of enforced disappearance under international law.

SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its urgent call on the Saudi authorities to immediately disclose the fate of Abdullah Al-Mubarki and all other victims of enforced disappearance, and to ensure their unconditional and immediate release.

SANAD affirms that the continued detention of Al-Mubarki is a grave violation of his right to freedom of opinion and expression, as guaranteed by Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states:
“Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference…”

The organization emphasizes that such practices amount to serious human rights violations, and calls on the international community to exert pressure to end the ongoing policies of arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance in Saudi Arabia.
