The Guillotine of Repression Continues: Saudi Arabia Executes Two Brothers in 10th and 11th Political Executions of 2025
On Saturday, May 3, 2025, Saudi authorities executed Hassan bin Mohammed bin Hassan Ghaith and his brother Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Hassan Ghaith, in what appears to be a continuation of politically motivated executions disguised as counterterrorism.
These executions mark the 10th and 11th political executions documented by Sanad Human Rights Organization in 2025 alone, reflecting an alarming escalation in the Saudi government’s use of capital punishment to silence dissent and eliminate perceived opposition.
As is typical, the Ministry of Interior’s statement used vague and formulaic charges such as “joining terrorist organizations” and “disrupting internal security,” without naming any specific groups or providing verifiable evidence. The statement also failed to identify the court that issued the death sentences or offer any transparency on the judicial process.
Sanad Human Rights Organization asserts that the “terrorism” narrative is repeatedly used as a cover for executing peaceful activists and critics, in a legal system that lacks independent oversight and fails to meet international standards for fair trials—particularly in politically sensitive cases.
Sanad reiterates its call for an immediate moratorium on executions, especially those based on politically motivated or overly broad charges. The organization also urges the international community and human rights bodies to take a firm and vocal stance against this systematic abuse and the expanding human rights crisis in Saudi Arabia.
