Release of Abdullah Al-Duraibi After Nearly Three Years of Detention

According to human rights and media sources, Saudi authorities have released Abdullah Al-Duraibi after nearly three years of arbitrary detention since his arrest in May 2022.

In May 2022, Saudi State Security forces raided Al-Duraibi’s home in Riyadh, confiscating all his electronic devices. The following day, he was summoned to the Presidency of State Security, where he was arrested and subsequently subjected to enforced disappearance until his recent release.

Sanad Human Rights Organization welcomes the release of activist Abdullah Al-Duraibi after nearly three years of unjust detention. While this release is a long-overdue positive step, it does not absolve the Saudi authorities of responsibility for the serious violations he endured—from the raid on his home and the confiscation of his devices, to his arrest without legal basis, and the prolonged enforced disappearance throughout his detention.
