The Ninth Anniversary of Dr. Mohammed Al-Hudhaif’s Arrest: Nine Years of Repression and Torture

These days mark the ninth anniversary of the arrest of Dr. Mohammed Al-Hudhaif, who has been detained since 2016 over trumped-up charges fabricated by the Saudi regime, due to his reformist views and tweets that fall under freedom of expression.

The Saudi authorities did not stop at the arrest, but committed multiple violations against him, including brutal torture such as beatings and electric shocks, placing him in detention with psychiatric patients, and subjecting him to deliberate medical neglect. He was also tried in an illegal secret trial, which initially resulted in a nine-year sentence, later increased to thirteen years without any legal justification.

Sanad Human Rights Organization calls on the Saudi authorities to release Dr. Mohammed Al-Hudhaif immediately and unconditionally, provide him with the necessary compensation, and release all prisoners of conscience.
