Dr. Mohammed Al-Khudairi Released After More Than Seven Years of Arbitrary Detention
Saudi authorities have released Dr. Mohammed Al-Khudairi after more than seven years of arbitrary detention, which began in September 2017 without any legal justification.
Dr. Al-Khudairi was arrested following a raid on his home by security forces. He faced various charges, including disobeying the ruler, delivering a Friday sermon in Qatar, and contributing to the construction of mosques in several countries. Dr. Al-Khudairi holds a PhD and has served as a lecturer and professor at the Teachers College in Riyadh. He also chaired the Board of Directors at the “Maahad” Consulting Center.
Sanad Organization for Human Rights welcomes the release of Dr. Mohammed Al-Khudairi but emphasizes that this step does not erase the record of human rights violations he endured during his detention. The organization urges Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release all prisoners of conscience who remain arbitrarily detained.
