SANAD organisation: Saudi Authorities Continue to Detain Yahya Al-Wadai Despite the Expiration of His Sentence
SANAD Human Rights Organisation condemns the continued detention of citizen Yahya Al-Wadai by Saudi authorities, who was arrested in early 2013 for demanding the release of prisoners of conscience.
The Specialized Criminal Court sentenced Al-Wadai to six years in prison, but despite the sentence having ended long ago, the Saudi authorities refuse to release him. This constitutes a blatant violation of human rights and both international and local laws.
SANAD Human Rights Organisation calls on the Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Yahya Al-Wadai and all prisoners of conscience, and to respect human rights and the internationally guaranteed freedoms of expression.
