Abdullah Al-Mubarki: Three Years of Enforced Disappearance and Human Rights Demands for Immediate Release

These days mark the third anniversary of the arrest of social media activist Abdullah Al-Mubarki, who was detained in July 2021 without any legal justification.

Al-Mubarki was arrested following a raid on his home in the city of Yanbu on charges related to freedom of expression and was taken to an unknown location. Since then, all news about him has been completely cut off, constituting enforced disappearance.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights is demanding the immediate disclosure of the fate of Abdullah Al-Mubarki and all forcibly disappeared persons in the repressive Saudi regime’s prisons, and calls for their immediate and unconditional release. The organization affirms that this detention violates Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which states that “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression.” The organization emphasizes that this detention represents a grave violation of freedom of expression and human rights.
