SANAD Organisation calls for the immediate release of Dr. Salem Al-Daini
SANAD Organisation for Human Rights urges the Saudi authorities to immediately release the academic Dr. Salem Al-Daini, who has been detained since mid-September 2017, just a few days after being dismissed from his position as Deputy Minister of Labor.
Al-Daini and his family have been subjected to numerous violations that contravene human rights and international norms. He has been thrown into solitary confinement and arbitrarily detained for a long period without being brought to court. Additionally, all members of his family are banned from traveling. The Public Prosecution has leveled arbitrary and false charges against him, including financing entities outside Saudi Arabia and criticizing the ruling authorities.
Al-Daini holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in the United States. He is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He also has a diploma in guiding the use of cognitive therapy for behavior modification. Al-Daini is a pioneer of voluntary work in Saudi Arabia and has made significant contributions to the establishment and training of numerous charitable and civic associations. He is also interested in youth development through organizing lectures and training courses.
