The Third Anniversary of Najwa Al-Humaid's Arrest
Today marks the third anniversary of the arrest of activist Najwa Al-Humaid in May 2021, as part of a campaign that targeted several young activists due to tweets under the hashtags for the unemployed and another discussing prisoners of conscience and human rights in Saudi Arabia.
These are the same charges brought against her by the Public Prosecution, in addition to accusations of dealing with suspicious entities and following dissident accounts on Twitter. The violations did not stop there; in October 2022, Saudi authorities forced her to appear on Al-Ikhbariya channel, attempting to polish the image of Saudi prisons and hide the dark reality faced by political detainees.
SANAD Organisation for Human Rights calls on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release activist Najwa Al-Humaid and compensate her for the harm caused by her arbitrary detention.
