The ongoing detention of artist Omar Shebouba

The Saudi authorities have continued the arbitrary detention of young rap artist Omar Shebouba since mid-March 2022, without any legal justification or charges being brought against him.

Rap artist Shebouba was arrested following an attack by online trolls who criticized what they described as ‘revolutionary songs.’ He has several songs that criticize corruption and the corrupt, and question the usefulness of laws in the face of rampant corruption.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights expresses deep concern about the continued arbitrary detention of young rap artist Omar Shebouba by the Saudi authorities since mid-March 2022, without any legal justification or charges, and demands his immediate and unconditional release.
