The Yemeni businessman Mohammed Fadhail is serving a 25-year prison sentence in Saudi Arabia on spurious charges
For nearly four years now, the Yemeni businessman Mohammed Fadha’il remains under arbitrary arrest in Saudi Arabia, serving a 25-year sentence on false and baseless charges.
His arrest came due to his relationship with the advisor to the Turkish president, Yasin Aktay, in addition to being accused of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood, Lebanese Hezbollah, the Yemeni Ansar Allah group, and Al-Qaeda, which highlights the falseness of these charges.
In prison, he was subjected to beatings on his head, stomach, and kicking in his leg to extract confessions under duress, which indeed happened. Two confessions were extracted from him. He was also placed in solitary confinement for four months and twenty days, and was prevented from communicating with his family and children residing in Turkey. The court refused his request to appoint his brother to represent him in the Turkish courts, which resulted in significant losses in his investments in Turkey.
SANAD Organisation for Human Rights, expresses its deep concern over the continued detention of Fadha’il and calls on the Saudi authorities for his immediate and unconditional release, and to ensure his physical and psychological safety. SANAD Organisation also demands the Saudi authorities respect the basic rights of detainees, including the right to a fair trial.
