Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman continues to detain Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Youbi despite his acquittal from the fabricated embezzlement charge
In mid-June 2022, the Saudi authorities arrested the former president of King Abdulaziz University, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Youbi, and he remains in detention to this day.
SANAD organisation exclusively revealed the reason behind Al-Youbi’s arrest, which came after a complaint from a university official due to a personal dispute with Dr. Al-Youbi. However, after the arrest, Dr. Al-Youbi’s sons requested one of the officials close to King Salman to intercede for their father’s release. This attempt to reach the king did not sit well with the Saudi Crown Prince, who then personally took over the case of Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Youbi’s arrest and fabricated charges of embezzling half a billion Saudi Riyals against him, as well as ordered the mobilization of electronic flies to defame Dr. Al-Youbi.
In related details previously obtained by SANAD organisation, it was reported that the Saudi authorities summoned an external accountant to search for evidence to support the charge against Dr. Al-Youbi, which alleges his embezzlement of half a billion Saudi Riyals. However, after a period of auditing information and data, the external accountant categorically denied any suspicion of corruption or embezzlement on Dr. Al-Youbi, which did not please the Crown Prince, who ordered the continued detention of Al-Youbi and tightened the restrictions on him.
SANAD organisation confirms its rejection of the continued detention of the former president of King Abdulaziz University, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Youbi, despite the absence of all charges against him. It emphasizes the urgent need for his release without any conditions and the restoration of his scientific and academic status in Saudi Arabia.
