SANAD Organisation calls for saving the life of Dr. Ali Al-Omari following the deterioration of his health condition

The academic Dr. Ali Al-Omari faces continuous deterioration of his health in prison, suffering from chronic illnesses that have worsened due to deliberate medical neglect and poor detention conditions, in addition to severe torture he has been subjected to, leading to kidney failure.

It is noted that Al-Omari is one of the most influential figures in Saudi Arabia, arrested in September 2017, and is one of the opinion prisoners threatened with execution for peacefully expressing their opinions.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights expresses its deep concern over the continuing deterioration of Dr. Ali Al-Omari’s health in prison and emphasizes that Al-Omari has the right to receive necessary healthcare, and that the medical neglect he is subjected to constitutes a blatant violation of human rights. SANAD Organisation demands the Saudi authorities to immediately release him and allow him to receive the necessary medical treatment as soon as possible.

Furthermore, SANAD Organisation for Human Rights urges the Saudi authorities to stop all forms of torture and pressure exerted on Al-Omari in prison, affirming that these practices constitute a violation of international human rights conventions and represent a stain on the reputation of Saudi Arabia. SANAD Organisation appeals to the international community to intervene to save Al-Omari’s life.
