SANAD Organisation calls for the immediate release of Jaber Al-Amri

Since April 2014, the Saudi authorities have continued to detain Jaber Al-Amri on the background of his demand for the release of his detained brother. He was arbitrarily arrested without any legal basis, and the Saudi authorities did not stop there but also forcibly disappeared him, adding another violation to the series of violations committed by the Saudi authorities against Al-Amri.

In the same context, Al-Amri faced an unfair trial where he was charged with false accusations, such as inciting public opinion, without any evidence to prove their validity. Based on these charges, he was sentenced to 7 years in prison, but despite the completion of his sentence, the Saudi authorities refuse to release him to this day.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights strongly condemns the grave violations Jaber Al-Amri is subjected to by the Saudi authorities and affirms that these practices represent a clear violation of international laws and covenants, including: The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which affirms the right of every person to freedom and personal security, a fair trial, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which affirms the right of every person to freedom of expression, the right not to be arbitrarily arrested, and the right to a fair trial.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights demands the Saudi authorities to immediately release Jaber Al-Amri unconditionally and confirms that it will continue to monitor the violations against Al-Amri and all detainees in Saudi Arabia, using all available means to ensure the respect of their human rights.
