Continued Detention of Dr. Ibrahim bin Nasser Al-Nasser
The Saudi authorities continue to detain Dr. Ibrahim bin Nasser Al-Nasser since September 2017 without any legal reasons.
The Specialized Criminal Court had sentenced Al-Nasser to three months in prison, but the Supreme Court overturned the sentence after its completion and increased it to three years. After this period also ended, the Court of Appeal further increased his sentence to 15 years, in a move that confirms the Saudi authorities’ disrespect for the law and human rights.
It is noted that Al-Nasser was subjected to a number of violations in prison, including being denied the right to appoint a lawyer, being forcibly disappeared for more than a year and a half, being prevented from communicating with his family, and being placed in solitary confinement.
