Continued Detention of Economic Expert Dr. Hamza Al-Salem

More than 1160 days have passed since the arrest of the economic expert Dr. Hamza Al-Salem and his enforced disappearance since November 2020, due to his expression of his opinion and his constructive criticism of Vision 2030, and his advice for correcting the course of the vision in a way that serves the Saudi citizen.

Al-Salem is considered one of the senior economists in Saudi Arabia and is an opinion writer in several Saudi newspapers. He has authored many publications in the field of economics. He paid the price for his reformist call and his journey in advocating for the improvement of the country’s reality and the end of corruption, by being imprisoned and disappeared to this day, without being brought to trial or revealing the conditions of his detention or disclosing his health status, all this to silence his demands for improving government performance at the current time.

SANAD Organisation for Human Rights calls for the immediate and unconditional release of the economic expert Hamza Al-Salem and all prisoners of conscience immediately and urgently.
