Possession of books is a charge that sends you to prison in Saudi Arabia

Sanad has obtained official documents showing that one of the charges brought against the detainee, Fawzi Subhi is the possession of the book “Palestine – Illustrated History” by Dr. Tariq Al-Suwaidan.

Translation: “… and date 4/5/1425H. Fourthly, the possession a prohibited book titled (Palestine – Illustrated History, by Dr Tariq Al-Suwaidan). As the accused was arrested …”

Fawzi Subhi, who is one of the Palestinian detainees in Saudi prisons, was sentenced to 8 years in prison and a fine of 50,000 Saudi riyals (around £10,700). He was also sentenced to be expelled from Saudi Arabia after the expiration of his sentence.

Sanad demands the Saudi authorities to immediately release all Palestinian prisoners in Saudi prisons, lift all politicised charges, and quash unjust sentences against them.
