Saudi Authorities Continue to Detain Islamic Preacher Saeed bin Farwa Al-Qahtani Without Charges
Saudi authorities continue to detain Islamic preacher Saeed bin Farwa Al-Qahtani, who has spent nine years behind bars since his arrest in September 2017, without any formal charges or legal justification for his continued detention.
According to human rights sources, Al-Qahtani’s arrest involved actions that terrified his family. Security forces confiscated his mobile phone and took him to an undisclosed location, leaving his family without any information about his fate or whereabouts.
His family remained unaware of his whereabouts for eight months before later learning that he had been transferred from Shaar Prison in the Asir region to Al-Ha’ir Prison in Riyadh, in violation of his right to communicate with his family and know his place of detention.
SANAD Human Rights Organization stresses that the continued detention of Islamic preacher Saeed bin Farwa Al-Qahtani constitutes a serious violation of his fundamental rights. SANAD renews its call on Saudi authorities to release him immediately and unconditionally and ensure that all his legal and human rights are fully respected.
