Ninth Anniversary of Dr. Hassan Farhan Al-Maliki’s Arrest Amid the Public Prosecution’s Continued Demand for His Execution

Today, 11 September 2026, marks the ninth anniversary of the arrest of Dr. Hassan Farhan Al-Maliki by Saudi authorities. He was arrested on 11 September 2017 and remains arbitrarily detained without legal basis, while the Public Prosecution continues to seek the death penalty against him.

During his years in detention, Al-Maliki has been subjected to several violations, including the raid on his home and intimidation of his family during his arrest, denial of access to a lawyer, prolonged periods of solitary confinement, and being prevented from communicating with his family for months.

Al-Maliki was also denied the opportunity to bid farewell to his son Farhan or attend his funeral after he died during Al-Maliki’s detention.

SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its call on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Hassan Farhan Al-Maliki, provide redress for the harm suffered by him and his family, compensate him for the physical and psychological harm he has endured, end policies that violate fundamental rights and freedoms, and release all prisoners of conscience.
