Saudi authorities continue detaining preacher Manawer Al-Noub Al-Abdali since 2017

Saudi authorities have continued to detain preacher Manawer Al-Noub Al-Abdali since September 2017 over his criticism of the widespread arrest campaign launched that year, which targeted dozens of academics, intellectuals, and opinion holders.

Al-Noub remains behind bars to this day, amid the continued detention of dozens arrested during the September 2017 crackdown, many of whom have been documented by SANAD Human Rights Organization, while estimates suggest that even more cases remain undocumented.

During his detention, Al-Noub was subjected to serious violations, including arbitrary arrest, torture, and ill-treatment inside prison. SANAD has not learned of any trial held for him since his arrest.

SANAD Human Rights Organization renewed its call on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release preacher Manawer Al-Noub Al-Abdali and all prisoners of conscience, and to respect their human rights obligations.
