Seven Years Since the Arrest of Jordanian Journalist Abdulrahman Farhana

These days mark the seventh anniversary of the arrest of Jordanian journalist Abdulrahman Farhana, who was detained in February 2019 in the city of Dammam on charges related to supporting the Palestinian resistance.

Abdulrahman Farhana is serving a 19-year prison sentence, with half of the term suspended, followed by deportation after completing his sentence. The 68-year-old journalist has faced serious health conditions in prison, suffering from chronic illnesses—most notably diabetes—amid deliberate medical neglect and ill-treatment.

His arrest came as part of a broader campaign that targeted more than 60 Palestinian and Jordanian detainees, arrested over their support for the Palestinian resistance. Most of them remain imprisoned in Saudi jails to this day.

SANAD Human Rights Organization calls on Saudi authorities to immediately release Abdulrahman Farhana, as well as all Palestinian and Jordanian detainees held because of their pro-Palestine positions.
