Ongoing Detention of Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rahmah Since 2021 — SANAD Calls for His Immediate Release
Saudi authorities have continued to detain Dr. Abdulrahman bin Yusuf Al-Rahmah since late 2021, with no information available regarding his legal status, conditions of detention, or whether he has been brought to trial. SANAD Human Rights Organization confirmed that, to date, it has not received any details about his case or his situation in prison.
It is believed that his arrest is linked to an old video clip that resurfaced online, in which he praised Sheikh Sulaiman Al-Alwan, who has been imprisoned since 2004. Dr. Al-Rahmah is known as a prominent humanitarian and charitable figure in Saudi Arabia, with notable contributions in the fields of relief work and social support.
SANAD Human Rights Organization condemns the continued detention of Dr. Al-Rahmah and calls on Saudi authorities to immediately release him and all prisoners of conscience, and to end the policy of repression and arbitrary detention, in respect of human rights and freedom of expression guaranteed under international law.
