Bader Ibrahim and Salah al-Haider return to the United States after American pressure
Due to American pressure, Saudi Arabia released American citizens of Saudi origin, Bader Ibrahim and Salah al-Haider, and allowed them to travel to the United States, as reported by the Middle East Center for Democracy.
It is worth noting that in April 2019, the Saudi authorities arrested both Bader Ibrahim and Salah al-Haider. They were released in February 2021 following the intervention of the American government, but a travel ban remained enforced against them. Ibrahim managed to leave the country in April 2023, followed by al-Haider in February 2024.
Similarly, many Saudi citizens are still prohibited from traveling even after their release, among them human rights activist Aziza al-Yousif, mother of Salah al-Haider, who was arrested in May 2018 and later released, but now she is under house arrest in Saudi Arabia. Many of the released detainees face the same restrictions.
