Third Anniversary of Dr. Abdullah Al-Ahdal’s Arrest in Saudi Prisons

These days mark the third anniversary of the arrest of Dr. Abdullah Al-Ahdal, who was detained by Saudi authorities in Mecca in November 2023. News about him remains unavailable, with little information concerning his fate or detention conditions.

Al-Ahdal’s arrest is believed to be linked to an article in which he criticized the weak response of Arab leaders to the war on the Gaza Strip. However, the reasons for his arrest and his legal status remain unclear.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Ahdal is a Yemeni national, a founding member of the Muslim World League, and Vice President of the Council of Sunni Scholars in Hadhramaut.

For its part, SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its call on Saudi authorities to disclose his fate and ensure his immediate and unconditional release, along with the release of all male and female prisoners of conscience held in Saudi prisons.
