Educational Counselor Khalid Al-Mahawish Completes Nine Years Behind Bars

Educational counselor Khalid Al-Mahawish has spent nine years in Saudi prisons since his arrest in September 2017 without legal justification.

During his detention, Al-Mahawish has been subjected to several human rights violations, including restrictions on communication with his family. One year after his arrest, he was tried in secret hearings without being allowed to appoint a lawyer to defend him. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by a travel ban of equal duration.

SANAD Human Rights Organization calls for the immediate and unconditional release of Khalid Al-Mahawish, the annulment of the sentences issued against him, and appropriate compensation for his years of detention and the violations he has suffered.
