Khalaf Al-Anzi completes 6,000 days in Saudi prisons
Khalaf Al-Anzi has completed 6,000 days behind bars in Saudi prisons since his arrest in 2009 after delivering a Friday sermon at a mosque in the Kingdom. He remains arbitrarily detained to this day.
Although he was arrested in 2009, Saudi authorities did not bring him to trial until seven years later. In 2017, he was sentenced to three years in prison, yet he remained detained even after completing his sentence.
During his detention, Al-Anzi has been subjected to several violations, including enforced disappearance and severe psychological and physical torture, which left him injured on multiple occasions. He has also suffered deliberate medical neglect that worsened his condition and put his safety at risk.
SANAD Human Rights Organization calls for the immediate and unconditional release of Khalaf Al-Anzi, ensuring he receives the necessary medical care, opening an independent and transparent investigation into the violations he endured, holding those responsible accountable, and granting him fair and adequate compensation for the harm he suffered.
