On the 11th anniversary of his arrest… SANAD calls for the immediate release of Ahmed Al-Hazmi

These days mark the eleventh anniversary of the arrest of Ahmed bin Omar Al-Hazmi by Saudi authorities, who was detained in May 2015 and is currently serving an 18-year prison sentence over expressing his views.

Saudi security forces arrested Al-Hazmi along with a number of preachers and activists without clear legal grounds, according to human rights sources. The sources indicated that he was later subjected to a secret trial that resulted in his 18-year sentence.

In this context, SANAD Human Rights Organization called on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Ahmed Al-Hazmi, grant him appropriate compensation, and end the policy of arbitrary arrests that violate fundamental rights.
