Approaching His Fourth Year in Prison… Dr. Abdullah Al-Fayez Remains Detained

Saudi authorities continue to detain lawyer and former judge Dr. Abdullah Al-Fayez since March 2022, over old tweets in which he expressed his personal views on social media platforms.

According to human rights sources, Dr. Al-Fayez was tried before the Specialized Criminal Court, yet the details and outcome of the trial remain unknown to this day, amid a lack of transparency and disclosure regarding judicial procedures.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Fayez is regarded as a highly respected legal figure in the Kingdom. He previously served as a judge and Sharia legal adviser and holds a PhD from the Higher Institute of the Judiciary in Saudi Arabia.

SANAD Human Rights Organization condemns the continued detention of Dr. Abdullah Al-Fayez and calls for his immediate and unconditional release, as well as the release of all prisoners of conscience and an end to arbitrary arrests based on the peaceful expression of opinion.
