On the fourth anniversary of his arrest, SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its call for the release of Imran Al-Arkani

These days mark four years since the arrest of humanitarian activist Imran Al-Arkani in October 2021, without any legal basis or legitimate charges.

Al-Arkani’s ordeal began when Saudi authorities arrested him from his home in Mecca following a coordinated smear campaign by pro-government accounts that directly targeted him. A year later, in October 2022, the Specialized Criminal Court handed down a harsh 25-year prison sentence against him.

Subsequently, the Court of Appeals reviewed the case and reduced the sentence to 20 years, though the ruling remains arbitrary and excessively harsh.

SANAD Human Rights Organization renews its call to overturn this arbitrary sentence and to immediately and unconditionally release Imran Al-Arkani, while also urging the Saudi authorities to free all prisoners of conscience and end the ongoing repression and systematic human rights violations in the country.
