Eighth Anniversary of Dr. Ali Omar Badahdah’s Arrest

Today marks the eighth anniversary of the arrest of Dr. Ali Omar Badahdah, as he enters his ninth year behind bars since his detention on 12 September 2017 and transfer to Dhahban Prison in Jeddah.

Over the past eight years, Dr. Badahdah has endured a series of severe violations, including enforced disappearance, solitary confinement, prolonged denial of family contact, denial of legal representation, and ill-treatment inside prison.

Judicially, the Specialized Criminal Court initially sentenced him to six years in prison, later reduced to four, before being increased again to nine years, all while he remains deprived of his basic rights.

Sanad Human Rights Organization calls on Saudi authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Ali Badahdah, stressing that his continued detention constitutes a blatant violation of his fundamental rights, and urges that he be granted appropriate compensation upon release.
