The End of Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Ahmad’s Sentence: SANAD Organization Demands His Immediate Release
By September 2024, respiratory disease specialist Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Ahmad has completed his seven-year sentence.
Dr. Al-Ahmad was arrested in September 2017 after a midnight raid on his home, during which he and his family were terrorized. He was taken to an undisclosed location without being informed of the reasons for his arrest. Dr. Al-Ahmad was subjected to enforced disappearance for six months without knowledge of his whereabouts. It was later revealed that he was held in Al-Ha’ir Prison in Riyadh, where he faced physical and psychological torture and was placed in solitary confinement. He was also denied the right to appoint a lawyer.
Dr. Al-Ahmad, born in Riyadh, graduated from Ball State University with a specialty in respiratory disease treatment. He also earned another degree from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University. Dr. Al-Ahmad has a prominent media presence, particularly on social media, and maintains an interactive website with extensive content.
SANAD, a human rights organization, calls for the immediate and unconditional release of Dr. Abdulmohsen Al-Ahmad and all prisoners of conscience.
