Two Years Since the Arrest of Journalist and Businessman Halel Al-Balawi

These days mark the second anniversary of the arrest of journalist and businessman Halel Al-Balawi in August 2022, without any legal justifications or specific charges being made. Since his arrest, all news about him has completely disappeared.

Al-Balawi is widely known in the media and business sectors under the name “Iqbal.” He founded and chaired the boards of several companies, including Third Mind Exhibition and Conference Organizers, Wajf Company, Fifth Quarter Company, and Hatem Hospitality, among others. He was also a presenter on Al-Majd Network from 2002 until 2021.

The Sanad Human Rights Organization expresses its deep concern over the continued detention of Halel Al-Balawi and calls on the Saudi authorities to release him immediately and unconditionally, while ensuring he is fairly compensated.
