SANAD organisation condemns the ongoing detention of Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Abdullatif and calls for his immediate release

Dr. Abdulaziz Mohammed Al-Abdullatif has been suffering under an unlawful arbitrary detention by the Saudi authorities since September 2017.

The Saudi authorities’ wrongdoing does not merely consist of the arbitrary arrest and terrorizing of Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Abdullatif and his family, but also includes severe violations within the prison. He was forcibly disappeared for six months, during which he was prevented from communicating with his family, and underwent a trial in secret sessions where he was not allowed legal representation. Adding to the injustice, his sentence was increased from five years to twenty years immediately after it ended.

SANAD organisation, vehemently condemns the serious human rights violations inflicted on Dr. Abdulaziz Mohammed Al-Abdullatif, from his arbitrary arrest and the terrorization of him and his family, to his enforced disappearance and the prevention of communication with his family, leading to a secret trial without legal representation, and finally the increase in his sentence from five to twenty years. Sanad calls for his immediate and unconditional release and for adequate compensation.
