Dr. Mohammed Matar Al-Harbi: University Professor and Human Rights Activist Arbitrarily Detained for Over Two Years
In October 2021, Saudi authorities arrested Dr. Mohammed Matar Al-Harbi, a university professor and human rights activist, without any charges. He was brutally arrested at his home, where he was beaten and tortured, then bound and taken to an unknown location.
Since then, Al-Harbi has not been released, and the Saudi authorities have not disclosed any information about his place of detention or the reasons for his arrest.
Al-Harbi is a professor at Umm Al-Qura University in Mecca and the Imam of Princess Sheikha Mosque in Mecca. He is also a member of the National Society for Human Rights and a member of the Advisory Committee in Mecca.
